School Grounds

In 2020, we started work on our school garden. Over the last five years it has been transformed by our Year 2 children and gardening club from a tired entrance way, complete with bicycle racks, into a beautiful garden filled with fragrant flowers and insect friendly plants. Our garden is made largely from thrifted and donated items and plants – many of which have been upcycled and restored. Vegetable trugs allow children to experience the joy of planting and growing their own vegetables, and the insect friendly habitats encourage even the youngest children to explore biodiversity.

Paddock rewilding: The Eco council took advise from the Wilder Schools trust, and decided to leave the nettles in the paddock and not have them mown this year. We also looked at the old school pond and decided to leave it this year and clear the site in the autumn and spring term ready for some planting, to create a bog garden.
