Governor Biographies

Chair of Governor's Letter to Parents

 

We believe the role of a governor at St Michael’s is:

  1. to contribute to the strategic discussions at governing body meetings and committee level to determine the vision and ethos of the school, to create clear and ambitious targets and priorities for the school, and to determine the school’s budget and staffing structure.
  2. to hold the senior leaders to account by monitoring the school’s performance, including the school’s self-evaluation, school development plan, data and feedback. We ask challenging questions of the senior leaders and ensure that the ethos of being a community school with underlying Christian principles is upheld at all times, welcoming children of all faiths and none.
  3. to ensure that the staff have the necessary resources and support they require to do their jobs well, including the necessary expertise on business management, external advice where necessary, effective appraisal and continuing professional development.

 

The governing body consists of:

  1. nine foundation governors
  2. two parent governors
  3. one staff governor
  4. one head teacher
  5. two co-opted governors

 

The foundation governors comprise:

  1. one ex-officio governor ( the incumbent of the parish)
  2. two governors appointed by the Diocesan Board of Education
  3. six governors appointed by the PCC of the parish in which the school is situated.
